Trump brings 6,000 jobs to Scotland, people moan.

November 7th, 2008

Donald Trump has just been given the go ahead for a multi million pound development in Balmedie, just North of Aberdeen which will bring 6,000 jobs Scotland at a time when it needs them. It will bring tourism money from all over the world and keep Scotland at the top of the tree with regards to the worlds finest courses.

All good news you would think, but no…the environmentalists are sticking their oar in again.

It might be different in Scotland but down here in England, you can’t even fart without getting whined at by an environmentalist. It takes approximately 10 years to get planning for large developments in the South-East which is ridiculous, especially as we’re so short on homes.

The latest case of this in my area held up a development because of a special type of grass that wasn’t found in many places in Hampshire. There’s loads of it in other places, just not Hampshire?!?!.  There was only three clumps of this grass found on a 100 acre plot and it held up the development by years! It inflates house prices and is a complete joke.

I understand the need to protect wildlife but come on, 6,000 jobs in an area that’s desperate for them?  And, most of the land will be a golf course anyway which will be impecably looked after providing a haven for wildlife.  Just don’t get it, sorry. What’s the big deal?

Even the course designer said “The land is perfect for it, I hardly need to touch it. I could build this course with 2 tractors and a spade.”

Ok, building the hotel will dirupt wildlife and cause problems, but it will recover over time.  Am I missing something?

    Another complete farce.
Give me a break Scotland your always moaning about something.
You get given massive amounts of money from the UK each year and don’t have to pay for half the taxes we do, yet your still hard done by.
I say we re-build Hadrian’s wall, any taker’s?? I will put in a few day free labour.

Oh and might I add that your not using the land anyway.
Unless you can call a few heroin dependent freeloading students, occupying a dilapidated cow shed use? Then get over it, we know you don’t like work but there will be no time for shirking once we Brit’s cut the apron strings….

As a Scot Im very happy about the golf course being given the go ahead. My only problem is you cant rely on the weather being nice.
And as far as the rebuilding of that great wall as long as your on the other side from me I’ll help out as well.

The vast majority of Scots welcomed the development, which is why the Scottish Government took the decision to override the local council.

It is worth noting most of the environmental campaigners interviewed locally at the time seemed to be white settlers from down South, possibly from Hampshire?

Yea, very well researched comment there. Tit

Sounds like a Hampshire environmentalist to me mate. At least the Scots overide the stupid decisions made by councils on projects like these…and within a reasonable time frame. These kind of arguments go on for ten years down South.
