How to make the perfect cup of tea

October 31st, 2008

I’ve seen and commented on this post by Chris and made my thoughts clear that it should be Tea bag, then hot water, then milk. I don’t want to get into that argument anymore but I we do have another problem.

I’ve discovered that actually, I can’t make tea another way than my own - I’ve tried and failed every time. Apart from disagreeing with him on how it’s made I have no problem making his tea the way he likes it, but I can’t do it?  Does anyone else have this problem?

The same is true when others make my tea, it’s just not quite right. Nearly there sometimes, but never perfect.

So why is it then we make tea in rounds? Why don’t we all just make our own, it would solve the problem completely and you’d get a cup of tea when you wanted it without having to wait four hours. Either that or we need a day of training to show each other how to make the tea with a refresher course each time a newbie comes in.

So complicated yet sooo important….lol!

So this is my attempt at making 4 different styles of drink for our office:

1. Coffee for me: 2 spoons kenco instant, 2 sugars, lots of milk in first, hot water and stir…mmmm

2.Tea for simon: Tea bag, water, milk - simple

3. Tea for chris: Milk in first rubbish and then piss around with it for 5 minutes trying to get the colour right

4. Earl Grey for Leece: Simple, but gay.

So, pre-hot water shot..

This is what they look like pre-water

This is what they look like pre-water

and then the mid-brew - note the shitness of the third cup down? I mean how can you make tea like that?
What is going with 3rd cup down? eww

What is going with 3rd cup down? eww

…and, the finished article…everyone is happy.  Or are they?  Whinging bunch of…..
Mmmmm, lovely, lovely coffee and tea...

Mmmmm, lovely, lovely coffee and tea...

Whatever way you like it, you can’t deny it’s the single most important thing in any day. The computers can break, bulding set on fire, desks collapse but as long as the kettle is ok, it’s all good.

I think suggesting that we all make our own tea could work, after all we have people in the office here who only make 1 maybe 2 rounds of tea a week, as they don’t drink tea themselves. Then there people like you and I who take our turn.

To be honest thinking about it the only people who would really benefit from making their own tea are those who only drink one cuppa a day.

Whats my point? I’m not sure…

Ok, I have avoided the tea making debate long enough, as Chris thinks I make god awful tea, im scared if I make him another he’ll fire me on the spot! lol.

Im with Jon on this, teabag, water, milk. But thats cos I drink Earl Gray, (for those stressful situations!) and it takes longer to brew.

oh… and its not Gay… its ‘Earl Gay’ :-)
