Day 3 - still no smoke!

October 31st, 2008

Ok, that’s day three started. Had another drink last night, really really wanted a ciggy but didn’t have one. Sweet. Going to Top Gear Live today so that should be cool. Can’t smoke inside anyway, or on the train.

The big test will be this weekend, getting shit-faced and still not smoking. Bring it on… Got to get it out of the way at some point.  I’m also working with my dad this weekend who smokes 20 a day so that could be quite hard. Still, I’ve got to get over all these hurdles…thank the lord for my little saviours, the nicotine replacement jobbies. Especially the inhilator - really works. Over and out… I’ll still kill you all…

How to make the perfect cup of tea

October 31st, 2008

I’ve seen and commented on this post by Chris and made my thoughts clear that it should be Tea bag, then hot water, then milk. I don’t want to get into that argument anymore but I we do have another problem.

I’ve discovered that actually, I can’t make tea another way than my own - I’ve tried and failed every time. Apart from disagreeing with him on how it’s made I have no problem making his tea the way he likes it, but I can’t do it?  Does anyone else have this problem?

The same is true when others make my tea, it’s just not quite right. Nearly there sometimes, but never perfect.

I want a decent Mercerdes 300CE for £800

October 30th, 2008

So, does it exist?  Not sure. I think I’ll find out soon enough.  I’ve seen a few around and they look like a lovely car if the wheel arches aren’t rusted. I’m hope for a old G reg one like this..

It’s a 3 Litre so will cost tons on fuel but I only live half a mile from work so I’ll hardly ever use it. The tax will be cheap though as it’s so old which is cool!

What’s the perfect link exchange email?

October 30th, 2008

So tell me internet people, how do get someone to reply to your link exchange email?  Where am I going wrong?  I’m looking to exchange footer links with a golf website of the same standing as mine.  I’ve sent 30 or so emails in the last week and only got one reply and that was useless.

Why don’t things just work

October 30th, 2008

If you’re new to blogging, which I am.  This stuff is confusing. The slimstat doesn’t work, the picture upload doesn’t work, I can’t put the pictures in the right place etc etc.  I know I’m an idiot with regards to this stuff and I need to learn but it’s difficult to know where to start.

Its just the general concensus with anything computing - it doesn’t work straight away. Soundcards, graphics cards, music software, blogs, websites, email, iPhone etc etc. Grrr.

I’ll update this as I become less stupid…if that’s possible…

Day 2

October 30th, 2008

Ok, went for a beer with Simon last night - got through it, just.  Didn’t murder the wife but definitely got a little twitchy.  Didn’t sleep very well cos of the nicotine patch which doesn’t help and my mouth tastes all funny. Hmmph. The whole ‘excitement’ of giving up smoking starts to fade as quick as a black shirt in the washing machine.

Still, I knew this would happen and I’m good. I reckon I can get through day 2.  Oh yeah, went to the smoking clinic last night and got some more supplies and one of the silly bitches kept taunting me putting her fingers to her mouth and pretending to smoke?  I mean wtf?  She’s dead to me now…

Anyway, don’t fucking talk to me. Lol

The importance of desk positioning

October 29th, 2008

I was just discussing this with Lisa in my office and we think it’s worth sharing. The importance of where your desk is at at work. Now there are lots of things to take into consideration.  Get a good corner plot and no-one can see your screen leaving you free for facebook, games etc etc.

Get a desk out in the open and your screwed, never truly safe from the prying eyes of your beloved collegues…

Packing in the smokes

October 29th, 2008

So, my first post. What do I write about? It’s got to be giving up smoking. It just so happens that today is my first day of giving up.

I (was) a 20-40 a day man so it’s definitely going to be tough but I know I can do it this time.  Every time before I’ve tried to give up I’ve been really panicked and worried about it.  I don’t feel like that this time. It’s different.
